The Business Manager is an integrated leadership role that supports franchisees who operate single unit as well as multiple A&W restaurants in Manitoba and parts of Ontario.  Reporting to the Regional Director, Operations, the Business Manager has accountability for the short and long-term success of experienced and new franchisees within the business unit. The Business Manager is responsible for ensuring that A&W restaurants unit operate to industry-leading standards and that the guest experience remains a competitive strength for the A&W brand at all restaurants. The Business Manager works closely with franchisees and their employees to help them achieve and sustain operational excellence and outstanding results for sales growth, profitability, and guest satisfaction. The Business Manager works closely with representatives of A&W’s Marketing, Real Estate & Franchising, and Purchasing & Distribution teams to realize corporate growth and performance goals for the business unit. This role is based out of a home office in Manitoba, requires a valid driver’s licence, and involves up to 40% to 50% overnight travel throughout Manitoba and Ontario.

The candidate must be a strategic and insightful professional with superb business acumen, sound judgment and high integrity. The candidate must have an exceptional ability to effectively influence business owners with varied styles, resources, experiences, and corporate structures. A proactive relationship builder, the candidate must have superb financial, analytical and problem-solving skills and a genuine desire to support business owners to achieve operations excellence, people engagement and outstanding results on a sustained basis. A curious listener and observer, the candidate must have a strong drive for results, the ability to be assertive and diplomatic, and the proven capacity to build effective relationships with a wide range of people. With a fine eye for detail and a knack for embracing the big picture, the candidate must bring an entrepreneurial mindset to resolving issues and pursuing opportunities and possess the demonstrated ability to earn the respect and trust of business owners by providing relevant, timely and useful guidance. Passionate about the guest experience and brand success, the ideal candidate is resilient, has a strong sense of personal accountability and the confidence necessary to implement new strategies. Resident within a major community in Manitoba, the candidate must be a motivated self-starter and lifelong learner with high energy and the willingness and ability to travel for business and a strong desire to build an outstanding career in operations with an exceptional brand. The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence and post-secondary degree in Commerce or Business Administration. Preferably, the candidate has had at least 5 years of experience in relevant business roles that involve financial, operations, marketing and influencing skills. It would be an asset to have had operations management experience in the hospitality or retail sectors.
